So I want to start by saying that Daniel and I LOVE the outdoors and everything that goes along with that. Well for Christmas this year we got camping equipment and we were very excited because we had been wanting to get into camping for awhile. We first decided to go to Palo Duro which if your familiar with Lubbock or West Texas you know it’s about 2 hours away so we call and they are all booked up with people camping already. So then this plan of going to Ruidoso instead started. We decided to go over spring break and we were constantly checking the weather in case something bad happened and we would have to change our plans.
So we pack up and leave the Thursday of spring break we left early in the morning so we would have plenty of time to put up our tent we get to Roswell and decide to stop by and see Daniel’s cousin and aunt which was so much fun we don’t get to see them that often. So we get to Ruidoso get to the ranger station to ask them where we can camp at and we find this trail head past Bonito lake and y’all this place is GORGEOUS! It’s the Argentina/ Botino trail head for those going camping soon. We get our tent all set up which we’ve only put up one time prior and that ended up being the easiest thing we do.

Now it was time to start on the fire which you guys this was seriously one of the most difficult things we’ve or should I say Daniel has ever done. Of course the temperature is dropping fast in the mountains and we couldn’t get the fire to catch or sustain and put off heat rather. About 5 o’clock we decide to pack everything up and go stay at a hotel. So while Daniel is putting out the fire I’m getting everything inside the tent packed up and we both get the tent down. We found a hotel the Comfort Inn which you might be thinking why are they staying there and you guys seriously the only thing I wanted was a bed to sleep on.

That’s how day 1 went wasn’t exactly as we planned. Now let's move on to day two; So we have breakfast in the hotel and we struggled so much between going back out to the trail and try camping again or stay in town. Well we decided to try again and see if we can get a good fire going well we met this guy about a mile down from where we were and he gave us these white fire starters which are used to sustain the fire and we wish we would’ve gotten the name of them. Anyways he gave us four of them and we put them on the fire and finally got a great fire going so we decided to just hang out and make some hot-dogs and enjoy the mountains and each others company. Well once again we decided to go to a hotel and we check to see if the Comfort Inn had any rooms and they were all booked which we kind of understood because there was A LOT going on in Ruidoso.
Well we drive next door to HOTEL RUIDOSO and thankfully they had a room. Once we get everything into the room again we decided to go eat and we were going to go to CAFE RIO which is one of our favorite restaurants to visit when we are there. It was super packed so we decided to go to another place called the Lincoln country Grill and man it was so good I highly recommend any of these places if you’re planning a trip to Ruidoso. Well that’s all ladies see you next week!
XOXO Sarah
